Thesis title: The effects of mechanical strain in Niobium doped SrTiO3 and Ceria doped Gandalinium free-standing oxide membranes

I graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a master’s degree in Nanoscience. I did my thesis in collaboration with DTU Energy in the functional oxides (FOX) group working on fabricating ϒ-Alumina/Strontium Titanate heterostructures with high mobility 2-dimensional electron gas at the interface. After I graduated in 2023, I pursued a PhD in FOX where I started my work on free-standing oxide membranes (FSMs) and the impact of mechanical strain under the supervision of Nini Pryds, Shinhee Yun and Daesung Park. The concept is to fabricate FSMs from heterostructures using pulsed laser deposition and induce strain in the membranes ones they have been released. Figure A showcases the release of a membrane from a heterostructure. Figure B illustrates the strainer device and how strain in FSMs can be induced similar to epitaxial strain.
